At a special meeting on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity
with the Palestinian People, chaired by Vasco M. Samupofu,
Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia, representatives of UN Member
States, of the League of Arab States and other international organizations
delivered statements in support of a just settlement of the Palestine
problem on the basis of a two-state solution. Special messages were
delivered by Representatives of the Secretary-General of the United Nations,
António Guterres, and of the President of the State of Palestine,
Mahmoud Abbas. The Ambassar of Morocco delivered a letter from His
Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds (Jerusalem)
Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
After speeches by the diplomatic envoys, the President of the International
Progress Organization, Dr. Hans Köchler, delivered a speech on
behalf of civil society.
The meeting was jointly organized by the United Nations Office at Vienna and
the United Nations Liaison Office for Peace and Security.
